Easter Wishes & Bunny Kisses
Egg hunts are the best part of Easter celebrations. There's candy, outdoor activity, colorful eggs, a little light-hearted competition, and, best of all, prizes. Follow these tips to plan and carry out an exciting Easter tradition.
Pick a location: Make sure to get permission if you are using a community space. Whether the hunt is taking place in your front yard or the grounds of the community center, make sure the location works for your group.
Stock up on eggs: You can hide plastic or real eggs at your Easter egg hunt, just make sure you get the supplies far enough in advance. If you're decorating and hiding real eggs, get a few small prizes to hand out to the children. Fill plastic eggs with small toys, candy, or numbers that correspond to bigger prizes, such as stuffed animals, chocolate bunnies, Easter books, or gift certificates. If you’re not sure about how many eggs to have on hand, we’d suggest about 10 eggs per child, depending on the age group. Have a few extra baskets on hand in case guests forget to bring their own. Most parents don’t need to bring home a dozen plastic eggs, so if you plan to recycle them, provide a goodie bag for each child so they can stash their haul.
Here are some great suggestions for things to put in your eggs that don’t involve candy: Fake coins, Marbles, Stickers, Small toy cars, Dice, Small Tops, Decorative shoelaces, Hair Clips, Beaded safety pin, Beads, Finger puppets, Squeeze ball, Fun coupons, Seashells, Polished rocks, Doll clothes, Crayons, Lip gloss, Erasers, Whistle, Nail polish, Keychain, Jewelry, Pencil grips, Temporary tattoos, Video game memory card, Small action figure, Small notepad, Plastic links, Coin purse, Pedometer, Small plastic animals, Bookmark, Rubber stamps, Makeup, Playdough, Silly Putty, Socks, Bandanna, Earphones, Charms, Lanyard, Small stuffed animal, Mini bottle of bubbles, Body glitter, Superball, Fortune teller, Fidget toy, Wristband, Confetti
Hide the eggs: Before you start hiding anything, count the eggs. (You’ll thank yourself later.) Go easy on the smaller children by leaving eggs on low branches and in open places. Make it more difficult for the older ones. Hard-to-find spots, such as under leaves, in downspouts, in the mailbox, or atop car tires are perfect challenges for older children in your group.
Now ready, set, hunt!
Staying Connected While Self Isolating
Staying in contact with loved ones during the COVID-19 pandemic has become even more important with self-isolation requirements and visitor restrictions put in place to help slow the spread. Try connecting old school style via letters and cards (imagine the joy of receiving mail when your friend replies). It preoccupies you writing letters because it can be dull when you're stuck indoors all day. It's connecting with people and finding a common ground. Swap recipes, book recommendations and even create personalised playlists.
It's magical after a stressful day - you can get an email or an Instagram DM - but when you pick up a beautiful handwritten card that someone's written with their heart... and you open it - it's a whole bright lovely moment. It's a little bit of magic posted through your door and it's so beautiful.
Even a window visit or a letter to those in isolation can make a world of a difference. Try to do FaceTime, Skype, phone calls, texting—connect with other people to seek and provide support. Don’t forget to do this for your children as well. Set up virtual playdates with friends daily via FaceTime, Facebook Messenger Kids, Zoom, etc—your kids miss their friends, too!
Missing our loved ones is emotionally difficult, but remember that self-isolation and social distancing are acts of love and care. Taking advantage of different ways to connect can help us feel closer and support each other.
Support The Artists
There is a lot of uncertainty when it comes to dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. While there isn’t a whole lot we can do as restrictions are put in place, there are a few measures we can take to support our favorite local businesses during these unsettling times. I’ve come to expect how I earn a living doesn’t fit our bureaucratic norms, despite the fact there are lots of us. I'm worried about small businesses and I'm doing what I can to help. I'm also worried about my own small business, which doesn't sell food or drinks but instead my talents with art and design. We're less visible.
Designers on Zazzle rely on their income to pay the bills.
But as the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis has burgeoned, the market to display and sell art has vanished. Musicians can’t go to theaters, restaurants or bars to play. Museums and galleries are closed. Weddings — and the related industry of designers, florists and photographers — are being canceled. For many artists, the sudden evaporation of venues and events has decimated their income.
Supporting small business is so important right now, and there are many ways you can help! Here are some suggestions how you can show your support.
🖤 Follow a small business on social media and like a bunch of their posts
🖤 Shop online with a small business
🖤 Pick up or order food from a local restaurant
🖤Recommend your favourite small business to friends, family and online followers
🖤 Buy a gift card to use at a later date
Reusable Cloth Face Masks
High quality printed face masks personalized with your own prints or patterns. Comfy ear loop which is wide enough to cover nose and mouth. Stay safe and stop the spread of germs.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the use of cloth face coverings as face masks to supplement social distancing in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. While the CDC's guidance recommends even homemade cloth face coverings to help slow the spread of the virus, now you can go a step further with a beautifully decorated face mask covering with a disposable mask insert slot. The insert slot allows you to insert a disposable mask inside (sold separately) to provide extra layers of filter protection. Our custom masks provide for personal style to match your look from fun designs to photos and even logos. With these customizable cloth face masks, you can show your personality even from six feet away!
Zazzle's cloth face masks are NOT surgical masks, personal protective equipment, or N-95 respirators – these critical resources are reserved for the brave healthcare workers who are on the front lines, taking care of our loved ones – but rather are intended for general, everyday use while out in public when social distancing measures are difficult to maintain.
African Safari Wedding Theme
A wedding is just like a safari. But unlike a safari, the wedding journey lasts a lifetime. Inspired by the exotic beauty of its famous savanna, transform your wedding to a safari adventure.
Include Proteas: These big and beautiful flowers are distinctly South African, and can be included in your wedding in a number of ways, such as making it the feature flower in your wedding bouquet, or using a few smaller ones as part of your bouquet. They also look absolutely amazing as the decor on the reception tables, individually in clear glass vases or as bigger bunches. The light blush pinks, or more striking bright red proteas complement white decor and bare wood surfaces.
Traditional South African Food: Give your wedding some South African flavour by serving your guests some traditional South African food! You can get really creative and have some fun with your canapés and serve miniature versions of South African food like bobotie spring rolls, samoosas, mini potjie pots, fish and chips, and biltong soup. Or why not have a peppermint pudding wedding cake, or sweet table with mini melktertjies, koeksisters and malva puddings. And don’t forget to serve those truly excellent South African wines.
For wedding favors, hand out something edible that’s bound to be appreciated: safari animal cookies in cellophane, or safari animal chocolates.
Add some subtle South African influence to your wedding table decor by including some items that instantly recognisable as uniquely South African, such as tin cups for your guests to drink from, some Steri Stumpies on a dessert table, doily lace on vases on the tables, or how about arriving at your wedding in a farm jeep!
As for table names, choose African animals (Cheetah, Elephant, Leopard, Lion, Zebra, Rhinoceros, Addax, Mountain Gorilla, Gazelle, Lemur, Chimpanzee, Monk Seal) or African destinations (Swaziland, Mozambique, Comoros, Seychelles, Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Angola, Malawi).
Jumping the Broom. This custom is a very Western one. It began because African American slaves were forbidden the ritual of marriage. The broom itself held a spiritual significance for many people of African descent because the new bride had usually helped other women in her new family sweep the courtyard clean. This symbolized her willingness to help out with her future family. During slavery, the couple would actually jump over a broom to begin the marriage. Today, this is becoming a traditional part of Afrocentric wedding ceremony as a way of honoring the trials of the couple's ancestors. In nearly all African tribes, the wedding is rich with symbolism representing the bringing together of two families. Anything that would center on this blending of families (such as the bride's family and the groom's family forming lines and then exchanging places) would be in keeping with this tradition. Have fun planning your African style wedding. You are not only creating a vibrant and visually appealing event; you are honoring your people who came before you.
From African flowers to full blown African decorations… Transform an otherwise “routine wedding” into a tropical African paradise and have a wedding ceremony that you, your new spouse, and all your guests will remember for many years to come.
Honey Bee Birthday
Make sure you have lots of yellow and black or brown party streamers and colored balloons which you can hang up in bunches and scatter around the party area for the bees to have fun with.
The kids can also have lots of fun drawing happy bee faces and painting black stripes on the yellow balloons to make their own special buzzy bees - this makes a great organized kids party activity.
If you can get someone along to the party who can create balloon animal shapes then the kids will love it. You can always get them to create lots of individual bee balloons for the party guests and they'll also make great party favor gifts for the little bees to take home after the party.
You can buy bees to hang from the ceiling (or trees for an outdoor bumble bee themed party) or you can make them yourself using some paint, paper, and creativity. Put yellow and black stripes everywhere: painted pots, table covers, balloons, plates, and other stuff. The honeycomb design is easy, too, with yellow craft paper. Cut individual hexagon shapes and put them together on the wall or on a surface you can glue them to.
No doubt the party bees will be working hard buzzing around the beehive and collecting honey from the honey bees garden ;-), so here's some fun party food ideas to help keep their energy levels up and their little wings buzzing!..
Bumble Bee and Flower Sandwiches - Make a selection of crustless sandwiches and fill with honey, peanut butter and jelly, nutella, cream cheese, ham and so on and cut the sandwiches into little bee and flower shapes using bee and flower-shaped cookie cutters or your own skills with a knife ;-)
Flower Burgers - Create flower-burgers using soft sandwich bread cut with a flower-shaped cookie cutter or knife into fun shaped burgers.
Nectar Dip - For kids who love to 'dip', serve a variety of tasty dips in small yellow plastic or terracotta ("honey pots") and serve with a colorful selection of dipping chips and sticks - nachos, breadsticks, celery, carrot, cucumber, pepper and so on. The parents will no doubt enjoy a few of these dips too!
Pizza Bees, Pizza Flowers and Honey Jars - Make or order a plain pizza, cover with slices of mild cheese then cut into lots of small bee, flower or honey-pot shapes with a cookie cutter. If you're making homemade pizzas you can cut the dough and cheese slices into these shapes first to make it a little easier.
Honey Bee Fruit Salad - Slice, dice and mix lots of soft, sweet 'yellow' fruits like melon, banana, pineapple, pears and so on.
Melon and Pineapple Bees - Slice up several yellow melons and pineapples then cut the slices into bee shapes with a bee-shaped cookie cutter of knife. Lay the little fruit bees on a yellow serving dish then carefully 'draw' stripes and faces on each of the little bees with chocolate sauce or chocolate cake icing squeezed through a small nozzle.
After your visitors leave, don't let them forget about the awesome bee experience they just had with bee party favors. Use the same bumble bee party ideas above for your party favors. Hand your guests some honey on their way out, or print bees and paste them into bubbles containers. Macarons, cupcakes, and cookies are also great as party favors, or if you have older guests, give them some hive-shaped candles to take home.
Virtual Event Invitations
We have been working on adding some new virtual party invitations in store. Keep in mind that any of our invitations can be tailored to a virtual invitation so you can choose any theme you can think of. Also, if you would prefer a digital download just let us know as we offer digital downloads on any invitation as well. This is truly social distancing at it’s finest! So if you’re in need of an invitation but can’t leave the house - we’ve got you covered! When you have to stay home, stay connected through virtual events. Host a virtual happy hour with friends, a virtual team meeting with coworkers, or a virtual baby shower to chat and check in with family. Snuggle in for a virtual movie night, a virtual game night, virtual drinks, or start a virtual book club with your loved ones.
Pros:
No need to book a venue, just make sure that you're somewhere with a good internet connection
Anyone can join from anywhere meaning no one gets cut from the guest list
No intensive set-up or breakdown of the event
No need to provide food and drinks for guests
Guests can "attend" in their pajamas
Guests do not need to travel far!
As you will not be spending too much money on booking a venue and crafting a menu for the party, you should work on putting that effort in finding ways to make the virtual party as fun and easy as possible for guests. You can even organise for gift boxes to be sent to each person on the guest list in advance of the party. This box can include, snacks, costumes and even some games to play when you are online.
Invitations
If you want to create a true virtual party from start to finish, then you may opt for sending out electronic invites. Although since you are having a virtual party, it may be nice for your invited guests to receive a real invitation in the mail and perhaps a virtual reminder before the big event.
Paper invitations also give you a chance to include some special extras for your invited guests, like maternity photos, baby shower games, raffle tickets and whatever other extras that will help guests feel included in your big event.
If you are sending paper invites, then you will need to adjust the invitation wording so that guests know that it is a virtual party.
Note: Before committing to a virtual option, please check to make sure the platform you are using offers the features that you need to make your party a success. If you are unfamiliar with a platform that you are considering, then jump online and test it out. The more comfortable you are with the technology, then the better chances you will have of making it all work out.

Temporary Tattoo Rock Decorations
So kids have been painting rocks to then place around town for others to find during all this social distancing. The #kindnessrocks project is such an amazing way we can all stay connected right now. If you are new to painting rocks, it is easy to feel intimidated by all the beautiful painted rocks people in online rock groups are making.
The good news is that you can totally fake artistic ability with temporary tattoos!
Supplies:
Rocks
Paint
Paint brushes
Temporary Tattoos
Scissors
Sponge
Mod Podge
Spray sealer
Steps:
Select the temporary tattoo you want to apply and cut it out
Paint a clean rock with paint if desired - you can also apply tattoos to naked rocks. Let dry.
Peel the clear protective sheet off the tattoo and place face down on the rock.
Hold a damp sponge on the back of the tattoo for 30 seconds.
Use the sponge to rub the back of the rock until the paper begins to slide. If the paper does not begin to slide after 5-10 seconds of rubbing, hold a damp sponge in place for 30 additional seconds and then rub.
Once paper begins to slide, peel paper off the rock.
Smooth out design with sponge if needed. Allow to dry.
Apply one very smooth coat of Mod Podge. Allow to dry.
Apply 1-2 coats of acrylic spray sealer to waterproof them if you would like to place them outside.
Australian Themed Baby Shower
Having an Australia theme party means you have endless opportunities for Australia props like Australia themed cakes, Australia theme party decorations, Australian themed party games, Australia themed clothes and all of the fun details that will make it a memorable event. Just like with a wedding, it’s the details that stand out. Guests arriving to your event will feel as if they’ve truly traveled to a far-flung land, without having to spend the day on an airplane, deal with airport security or rustle up their passports.
The bouncing, upright, stomach-pocketed creature known as the kangaroo is indigenous to Australia, but a kangaroo-themed party might be just what you need to get party guests hopping. More than 60 species of kangaroo exist in Australia, including wallabies, wallaroos, potoroo, bettong and pademelons. To bring a kangaroo theme to your party, you can create a quiz-show style game, where guests form teams to answer kangaroo trivia such as which kangaroo live in trees and how fast kangaroo can reproduce.
String Australian flags along your fence, use Australia Day-themed table cloths, napkins and paper plates and provide guests with temporary Aussie tattoos! You can also purchase toy kookaburras, kangaroos and koalas to place around your backyard and home, along with flowers, to show off some of Australia’s best flora and fauna.
A classic Australian BBQ is hard not to like, accompanied by mini meat pies and sausage rolls, salads, bread and prawns to keep guests satisfied all throughout the day. For dessert, we suggest a classic lamington recipe. It will without doubt be a hit with all your guests! Or some delicious fairy bread. Who doesn’t love sprinkles?
Send your guest’s home with a gift to remember with a party favour bag themed to Australia! Fill party favour buckets with chocolate freckles, mini Australian Flags, tiny Koala Bears and lollipops in green or gold!
Social Distancing Birthday
During this time of social distancing many kids are feeling the heartbreak of having their birthday parties cancelled. Consider still having a “party” with everyone including presents to help keep some normalcy during these crazy times. A birthday by mail invitation perfect for those that are social distancing. Ordering and sending a present through Amazon is probably the easiest way to send a gift to a party-less birthday guy/gal. If you or your household is practicing total quarantine, people could also drop off gifts. Here are some more tips on throwing a “social distancing birthday party”.
Include Friends You Couldn't Otherwise Invite: consider making a Zoom account because, unlike Google Hangouts and other video conferencing apps, it can support calls with hundreds of participants. Another approach to the Zoom party is to use it as a platform for a surprise. Invite a friend to what they think is a one-on-one video call and have a virtual surprise party waiting with all their loved ones.
Get Dressed Up: Clothes are a performance, an outward symbol, a message to the world. But clothes are just as often a reminder to ourselves: that we are worth small joys, and that we know just who we are — even when no one else is there to reassure us. So go ahead and wear a tiara, and it just might make a bad situation a little bit better.
Choose A Theme: there is no reason not to make the celebration as fabulous as possible. Choose a theme, decorate and have fun!
Send Out Invitations! Make it feel more like a typical birthday party and send out some invites to get everyone connected.
Plan Activities: It's not just kids that might need activities to help celebrate during this time. Think of things like "share screen" karaoke, dance parties, drinking games, and charades. I think when all this is over, we’ll be running toward each other and being very deeply grateful for and not taking for granted the way we gather.

Postponing Your Wedding
With coronavirus quarantines, travel restrictions and limited gatherings in mind, brides and grooms are faced with what to do about wedding plans.
Whether it’s weeks or months before your big day, the more notice you give your family and friends, the more likely they'll be able to join you to celebrate. Whether or not you've finalized a new date and/or location, you'll want to explain why your plans have changed and reassure guests that you'll share more information when you can. If you're using a wedding website to keep guests informed, add a note on the homepage about the change of plans. As you nail down a new date and logistics such as accommodations and room blooks (if different), continue to update the website to keep guests in the loop. As rearrangements are made, they'll surely appreciate the extra effort and direction.
If your wedding is not in the next two months, it’s still OK to plan for the wedding to go on as is. That said, it's important to stay informed and make educated decisions as more (reliable) news becomes available. If you’re just starting to dive into planning, it’s natural to have a million “what if” questions about the future. While all of this is uncertain, we hope this news won’t cripple you or take away from the excitement that comes with wedding planning.
Postponing your wedding gives your and your S.O. more time to plan out details leading up to the nuptials. While larger decisions have already been made, capitalize on the opportunity to personalize your wedding even more. Think through small details or creative ideas you can incorporate into your nuptials that are meaningful. Brainstorm unique table names, thoughtful wedding favors, sustainable practices or sentimental outfit accessories. Not only will it bring the two of you closer during this time, it will also add to the overall guest experience. It will make the day even more special and have guests leave thinking, “that was so them.”
Whether you’re feeling sad, frustrated or overwhelmed, lean on your loved ones for support. Postponing a wedding requires a great deal of time and effort, so try to delegate tasks to your partner, family or friends whenever possible. Communication is key too. Be honest with your loved ones about how you’re feeling and rely on them for support during this busy time.

Handcrafted olive oils make the most darling wedding favors or holiday gifts.
SUPPLIES:
Olive Oil
5 oz Glass Jars
Bottle Top Shrink Capsules
Large Chunk Spices (any flavors will do!)
Candy Thermometer
Measuring Spoons
Saucepan
Funnel
Alcohol
ADD THE SPICES
Add 1 heaping tablespoon of your spice(s) of choice into each 5 oz glass jar. Feel free to use any spice combinations you’d like!
NOTE: It’s important that you use ONLY dried spices. Infusing olive oils with fresh ingredients like lemon, garlic or rosemary, opens the door for nasty bacteria to grow because of the water content in the fresh ingredients. Doing that would be fine for immediate home use, but not for gifts or favors.
WARM THE OIL
Next, warm the olive oil to 180º F. This is not hot enough to bubble/boil, but it is hot enough to slightly burn your skin if it spills on you, so be careful. Remove the oil from the heat and pour batches into a smaller glass jar. The warming of the oil is what draws the flavor out of the dried spices!
FILL THE JARS
Carefully fill each favor jar to the brim with oil. After it cools, the oil will shrink down a bit so filling them to the tip top is totally fine.
LET THEM COOL
Add each lid and then let the oils cool down completely before moving to the next step. Be careful, the jars will be hot.
CLEAN WITH ALCOHOL
Since the oil is well, oily; give each favor jar a quick wipe with alcohol to remove any residue before adding the label and shrink band.
SHRINK WRAP THE LIDS
Shrink capsules come in different colors and will make your olive oil gifts look incredibly professional! They are SUPER easy to use, all you have to do is put them on top of each jar and evenly heat with an embossing gun. Only takes a few seconds per jar.
ADD YOUR LABELS
Peel the backing off each sticker and adhere to each jar, and voila! Super easy right?
A WEEK AHEAD
For your wedding or for the holidays, feel free to make these up about a week before your event… to give the oil and spices some real time to fuse. You can keep these jars sealed for up to about 3 months, but I’m sure they’ll be used up quicker than that!

Sending Moving Announcements
Moving announcements are a long-held tradition intended to inform your friends and family of your new address. Yes, social media is a thing and you’ve likely Instagrammed every step of your move to all of your followers. But at the end of the day, nothing can replace a good old fashioned snail mail card. Even if you’ve forgotten all about updating your address with family and friends, and you’ve already been living in your new place for a few months, you can still send out a moving announcement. This provides you with a great opportunity to showcase your brand new home or apartment with a photo card. Snap some pictures of your family on the front lawn or sitting around the dinner table. Everyone will appreciate the creative addition to the announcement.
If your business is moving, an announcement card can be a great way to keep your prospects and customers informed. Not only do moving cards provide your updated contact information, they’re also a great way to invite customers to an open house or kickoff party at your new location. Business moving announcements do more than spread the word about your new location; they also give you an opportunity to create front-of-mind awareness about your brand.
The next big question many people have is whether they should send the announcements before the move or after they’re already in the new home for a while. Because there are so many to-dos during a move it may be best to wait until after you’ve settled in to send the announcements. This is also beneficial because if for some reason a recipient doesn’t get their announcement through snail mail your new home will be the return address.
Besides keeping everyone informed of the big move there are other unexpected benefits — you may not have thought of — from your moving announcements.
1. Housewarming gifts you didn’t know were coming: While you may be expecting to get a few housewarming gifts from your closest friends and family, mailing those moving cards may just result in a few unexpected gifts from unexpected places.
2. Birthday and holiday cards that actually reach you: Sending a change of address cards is more than just a way to share your big news — it lets your loved ones know where to mail you those snail mail goodies for birthdays and holidays as well.
Make sure to update your phone number and email addresses at the same time!
So, you’ve mailed your moving cards — what next?
The housewarming of course!
Once you’ve unpacked your boxes and cooked a few good meals in your brand new kitchen — invite your friends and family to help you warm up the new space.
One Love First Birthday
Reggae culture and music caters to the party crowd. The smooth, laid back vibe of reggae music complements most social settings and gives people the image of the Caribbean Islands. Choose reggae and steel drum band music as the soundtrack for your party. Include reggae idols Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff. Add ska's Desmond Dekker and Toots and the Maytals. Round out the sounds with some rocksteady , Delroy Wilson and Bob Andy.
Here are a few more ideas to add to your party to give your guests an authentic reggae experience.
Decor: Reggae culture has a definitive color scheme: red, yellow and green with black accents. So, at your next reggae party, you do not need to worry about choosing a color scheme for your decor; it is already chosen for you. Decorate with flags, napkins, plates, forks and streamers that come in the solid reggae colors. also, thatched huts and even some sand will give your guests an authentic island experience. Purchase inflatable plastic or cardboard palm trees and place throughout the party venue. Place green and yellow table cloths on the tables. Make tropical centerpieces by filling wooden or glass bowls with tropical fruits such as pineapples, mangoes and bananas. Scatter seashells around the tables.
Food & Drink: Make Caribbean appetizers such as festival (fried cornbread), fried plantains and rice and peas. Serve raisin rum cake, mango ice cream or sweet potato pone for dessert. Sweet potato pone is a sweet bread made with sweet potatoes, milk, coconut and raisins. Serve tropical drinks such as coconut water, or Jamaican fruit punch. Jamaican fruit punch ingredients include Jamaican strawberry syrup, orange, grapefruit and grape juices and sliced fruit. Many cities have Jamaican restaurants that cater. Provide trays of fresh tropical fruits. Top off the birthday with a pineapple upside down birthday cake.
Activities: Can be centered around water play - so provide water guns for the kids, a water table, and if possible a pool. Consider setting up a "Lively Up Yourself" photo booth. It's always fun to include props in a photobooth. Think baby sized dreads, a rasta beanie, sunglasses, and a Jamaican drum. You can use Jamaican flags for the backdrop.
Party Favors: Send your guests home with a small, tropical-colored, gift bag containing a bottle of sunscreen, some seashells, or even a bottle of Caribbean hot sauce. Another fun idea is to send them home with a nice pair of sunglasses or a great new pair of flip flops to relax in. Origami Themed Party
Kids + Paper + Snacks = the perfect party afternoon! Here are some tips to throw an unforgettable Japanese Origami Party!
It’s great to involve kids in planning the party, and making the decorations is a good first step! Spend a few afternoons folding tiny origami stars. Or learn how to fold little paper boxes, that you can then fill with rice crackers and use for table decorations. Paper cranes are also very popular! Japanese lanterns hanging from the ceiling, or a colorful paper lantern garland, or even Japanese lantern centerpieces. Visit origami-fun.com to find free, kid-friendly folding techniques.
You can hang different sized, colorful paper fans on the wall and pick up a few decorative parasols to hang in the room's corners. Purchase tablecloths with Japanese-style motifs or dress up ordinary tablecloths by drawing, stamping or stenciling the decals with fabric paint instead.
Traditional party games can easily be adapted to the origami theme. Make origami frogs and have a frog jumping race. For an outdoor activity, make and fly paper airplanes.
Prizes and Goody Bag Ideas: Paper fans, Japanese fruit candy or Pocky Sticks, or Easy Origami books.
The origami theme allows for a lot of personalization depending on the interests of your child, so be creative! Origami bugs, origami fish, origami dolls — many other themes are possible.
